It's hard to believe but first term is coming to a close pretty quickly. Here's a quick recap of what's going on in our classroom as of late!

Science: TEST ON NOVEMBER 27! We are finishing up our unit on ecosystems and have a final test on November 27. Remind your student (or your friends!) to study using quizlet (flashcards for Chapter 1 Ecosystems is a great place to start), reviewing the study notes and reading the guided reading handouts.

Math: Our Divisibility unit is finished and we have moved on to Fractions. Fractions will not be included on this report card. So far we have covered representing fractions, representing fractions on number lines and equivalent fractions. This week we will discuss reducing fractions to lowest terms, mixed numbers, improper fractions and will begin to compare fractions with unlike denominators. PE: We have been perfecting our volleyball skills. We have made much improvement and have had some lively and exciting games as of late. House team volleyball is in full swing during lunch hours as well! Several of our class have also joined afterschool volleyball teams. Stay tuned for more information for upcoming games!

Social Studies: TEST ON NOVEMBER 23! We are having a mid-unit test for Ancient Mesopotamia on Friday. Review your learning using your FishBone notes, Farming questions and quizlet (for civilization). We wil continue to review and do some writing around our learning outcomes to prepare for the test this week.

Language Arts: We have been working on our organization skills in writing lately. We will be publishing our latest pieces on Tuesday.

French: We have completed our French numbers 1-100 and have moved on to learning Avoir and reviewing pronouns. Be prepared for a quick quiz on pronouns this week or next!

It’s been about 5 weeks since the last post so here is a recap of what happened.

Science:
We have continued to learn about ecosystems; recently we started to learn about communities and populations. We have also been managing an aquaponics system and that has been running smoothly.


PE: We recently started our volleyball unit; we have gone over volleying, bumping, setting, and serving. We have also played a lot of game recently.


Math: We recently finished our unit on divisibility rules and have moved on to our fractions unit!


Writing: We finished our focus on the ideas trait and we started focusing on organization.


Socials: We have been focusing on farming and how it developed civilizations.
